Hi,

You'll see from a previous thread that I was looking at a Triple for my new bike. After research and advice here, have settled on a compact and gone for a 48/34.

Is there any reason why I can't use a Shimano 105 Triple Mech with a 48/34 Double Chainset?

If not, I need to swap it for a Double but most of the Shimano's say 50-56 teeth on the large ring? Would an Ultegra Double work ok with a 48/34?

Thanks,

Alistair

I should think that it would most definitely. Have seen 46/34 work with Ult double, on a Cross' set up.

    it will work

the triple front mech is just a little wider to accomodate the angles from frfont to rear on triple

Thanks, I've decided to swap the 105 Triple for an Ultegra 6700 Double for Compacts...
