Hi just joined bike radar forum today. I have a old but mint condition karakorum with non sus forks. My understanding is the headset size on bikes like this early GT is different to the headset size which current sus forks on the market are compatible.
Question is is it possible to buy sus forks for this old size headset , if so where, what brand model, what do I ask for.
My local bike shop here in NZ believe I'll struggle to find a set that fits

Ok you will need to measure the steerer tube.
current ones are 1 1/8" older ones tend to be 1".
If your LBS are having probs finding one then you will have to look at if it is really worth while.
But Marzocchi and Magura still make forks with 1" steerers but they may have to be ordered in.
then you have to consider the bike and the travel of the fork. will it work or feel like a Barge."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."
