Is there a way to tell if the bearings need replacing on hope 2 hubs? Im sure the wheel is not spinning as easily as it should. Am pretty sure it is not the brakes, so that just leaves the bearings I think.

remove the caliper and chain and spin the wheel(s) and listen.

  • +1 for the above.

Listen for a graunchy grinding noise from the axle!!! Turn it by hand and it may feel notchy or rough.

N.b. The bearings are sealed units so if they are graunchy or rough change them no amount of WD40 GT85 Grease will get in there to save them.

Pop them out and make your way onto the internet / local machine shop with the bearing codes (printed / stamped on the outer race ) and get your self some high quality fully sealed bearings, ceramic if you can stretch that far. It will be cheaper than OE replacements and better quality!!!
