Couple of videos of me with my new GO PRO HD camera.

This one is a mixture of chest camera and helmet vent strap. The vent strap didnt work great as the helmet was all over the place.

This one I used the full face helmet so it seems a lot more steady Watch out for the crash. Doh!

Cheers. Not sure why that was as it was all filmed on the Full 1080 setting. Probably the render and upload I choose. I am new at uploading videos and can see the noticeble differenece in quality when I upload stuff. I will get there.

Very nice. From 2:00 in you look to be absolutly steaming along! Normally vids look very slow pace even if you are putting your nuts into it. The chest mount definatly works for that but is a bit wobbly.

But what the hell was that picture doing in there?

Artistic Licence lol. Na man I am new to all this editing and was just adding things to see how it looked and what Movements can be done.

Think when the camera is pointing at the ground it gives a good sense of speed. On the wide angle it opens everything up and makes it look a lot slower.

Oh yeah and I found the chest mount was too loose on that vid. Thats why there was so much movement. If it is filmed in wide and the chest harness is tighter it takes a lot of the movement outta it. Makes you a bit sea sick in places.
  • chest mounts FTW!
  • Nice video, Definitely worth the money then!

Just bought one myself only used it once to try placement of lights for night riding, think chest mount is the way to go, went for a bummble up m8s waited until it got dark and came home see how it fairs in night time.
day quality is superb and this vid edited with sony vegas is slightly worse than the original, nights not bad but looks alot darker that what it actualy was.

my vid just for comparison. i use vimeo as full 1080 HD is ok

I found when the camera was on setting r5 on the chest mount it was pointing at the ground and when I added the extensions so I could point it up a bit the chest mount moved around too much. Just a tip keep it direct on the chest mount r3 setting is better for a bigger overall view rather than directly infront of the rider.

@Pr][nce - Thanks for sharing the video I had wondered how it would look on the night rides. What settings did you use for that night ride?

    total darkness it's useless, used
R3, Cnt, Pal : street view had some light, and going up the mountain, mostly black.
R3, Spt, Pal : used it for the downhill section, literaly see nothing on the vid.

wounder if i got a dim led to shine into the sensor would it alter the brightness?

Here is a pretty good forum a lot of great tips etc
    http://goprouser.freeforums.org/

A lot of the trails I use are in the mountain so no other light other than Bike and helmet lights. Interesting that it didnt make a difference using spt/cnt Maybe if the camera is mounted directly behind the light. Not sure. Going to try myself at some stage.

    Cheers for the update.
  • right in the action,I watch helmet cams on utube, bikeing, parachuting etc and best videos ever ,great to watch if you plan to do the sport yurself to see what your up against, keep them coming.

I've just ordered a GoPro HD Motorsport - $270 all-in including delivery - eBay here lists them nearer 299 quid so I'm saving something close to 120 quid which is ridiculous. A friend will bring it over on next visit. My in-car racing stuff gets used on TV so I want to improve the quality but it'll be great for other sports too.

Make sure and post your vids. Nothing like a bit a flat out in car tv.

I am using sony vegas pro 9 also for editing. Also just learning it as I go. I had experiance with pinnacle studio 8 and hollywood fx in the past.

    .

Mountains of stuff on YouTube already (nearly every race I've done - and lots from other racers too) - same username - just not HD
