Good evening all,

I'm new to the forum and to cycling having just got my first road bike 3 weeks ago. Its a Specialized Secteur 2010 which I have done the sum total of 42 miles on before falling off!!

It wasn't even that impressive, I just got to the top of hill approaching a roundabout going slowly to get a gap in trafic, went too slow and couldnt get my shoes unclipped in time! Managed to fall onto a grass verge and have a soft landing though.

I've been reading loads on the forum for the last couple of weeks so I realise a few people have done the same thing but i still feel daft!

    i hold my hand upto this, dont worry about it, more riding and practice and it becomes such a nature after time you don't even know your clipping and unclipping it just happens

    Yep me too. Happened twice in the first couple of weeks of clipless pedals, that was a year ago, and like the man says it becomes second nature in a short while. what you have to look out for is the 4x4 coming round corners on narrow lanes. they get you every time!

    Cheers guys, I'm trying to loose weight and training for a triathlon so i had better get used to them soon. 4x4 sound fun!!

    Apparently you will have another 2 'clipless' moments, don't worry we've all been there !!!! :wink:
    I like shiny bikes - especially Italian ones.....!!

    Not done it on the road yet, but two years riding with spd's on my mtb bike and I still do it every couple of rides :oops: Though not this year thus far.......

    You haven't lived until you have tottered sideways and fallen off in front of a large audience. Queues waiting for a bus seem to be my favourite :lol:

    My first clip fall happened in the living room - hadn't even been out on the road!!!

    Trying the bike for size leaning against the wall, pushed myself over and did a Del Boy. Missed the edge of the coffee table but the big chainring went into the back of my leg. Now have a big semi circular scar on my calf. I tell folk I was attacked by a shark to save face ;-)
