Cube Agree SL or Cube Agree gtc pro?

Hmmm. The list is shortening, but should I go for the allow framed Agree SL or the Carbon gtc pro? The SL has full Ultegra whilst the gtc pro has a mix of Ultegra & 105. Is there any difference in riding position, I wonder (must consult the geometry table). Has anyone out there been here before me?

I've not ridden the Agree SL but I have a 2010 Agree GTC Race - a great bike and very responsive.

I'd go for the GTC Pro if I were in your shoes, nothing wrong with 105 at all and you can consider upgrading the components as time goes on.

  • lol, i have been mulling this over for about 2 weeks, finally decided on the SL no great benefit for the extra 350 notes, nothing as you know in the weight and to be honest I prefer the wheel set on the SL's.
  • Made the same decision based on price and the fact they weigh the same. First road bike and I love it.

Sounds like an agreeable problem to have.

I got the Agree SL because of pure value for money. Full Ultegra, nice wheels, and a bike that weighs just 8.10kg.

i do wish they had the black color in my size.... not very crazy about the white and red although i get nothing but compliments on every ride i take it out for.

Also i dont think there is a riding difference, remember consulting the geometry on both last year. GTC is carbon other is not.

  • I am currently toying with the idea of a GTC Pro or GTC Race and spending the extra amount to get full Ultegra.

Hoping to test ride one as I hear the sizing is a bit funny on Cubes.

I agree on the paint jobs, not so keen on the GTC paint jobs (think the blue trumps the red) and think the Aluminum frame in black looks bloody amazing.

Am waiting for when Cayo 2.0 is out and they release the weight. Much cheaper for full Ultegra compared to the Cube GTC Race but want to know about the weight!
  • Thanks to all who've responded. That's really helpful. (btw, Mr Moderator, where are the 'thanks' buttons?). I think I'm leaning towards the SL, but as I couldn't get a discounted 2010 in my size (odd sizes, aren't they!), I may as well wait until I'm certain and I can ride it in good weather. Also on the shortlist are a Koga Kimera (superb quality, I have a Terraliner alloy - but heavier and a lot more money) - and a BMC Road Racer SL01. Comments welcome here, too.

Just a quick note about size. Rule of thumb with Cube road bikes is that you need to go for a size up from the norm. I'd need a 56 in a Cannondale, but got a 58 Cube and then put a 130mm stem on it.

Best to get on one to try it for size before parting with your cash.

@ Heavenfire, keep us posted on what you get and how it rides!

I've looked into the geometry of the SL, comparing it to my Terraliner. The Koga is a 57cm (I could've perhaps gone for a 58 but it feels good). To achieve similar sizing of seat tube and top tube, I'd need a 62 in the SL! I may err towards a 60, as you can always put a longer stem on a smaller frame, but can't shorten one that's too big!

    What you say makes sense.

If you can get to a Cube dealer and try them for size that would be best. Also measure from the seat tube to the handlebar tops of your current bike to confirm your overall reach, do the same to the Cube as a straightforward way of calculating the stem length required.

This link should help find your closest dealer.

I visited Cyclesense at Tadcaster at the weekend to have my Koga serviced (they are the national dealer). They also stock Cube, and had a couple in, but only 56's I think - too small. That's a good tip about the measurement to the bars.

I'd also looked at the Cube site (in English), where I noticed that the seat tube angle is 73 degrees - a little more than my Terraliner. This is good, as it should mean that I don't need to have my saddle so far back on the rails to accommodate my long thighs.
  • For anyone interested, here is the link to the 2011 Cube catalogue
