Police are appealing for witnesses in their bid to help reunite a top tri-athlete with his racing bikes.

The two racing bikes worth a total of £7500 were taken in the burglary, which happened between January 7-8 in the Chelvey Batch area, near Bristol.

Taken during the burglary were a Litespeed Blade titanium-framed bike valued at £5000. This was a custom-made bike for the owner. A second bike – a black coloured carbon frame with no manufacturers name on is valued at £2500.

The owner of the bike is a top tri-athlete who competes at a high level in his sport and is due to start racing in May in the national Iron Man events.

He is desperate to recover the bikes, especially the lightweight Litespeed.

Because the bikes are specialist machines, they are urging cycle shops throughout the area to be on their guard for anyone offering either of the bikes for sale.

They are also urging tri-athletes and racing cyclists to be aware if they are offered either of the bikes.
