I am looking for a bike bag that I can pack my carbon framed bike into then strap the bag flat to the roof in a horizontal position? Dont really want the bike vertical on the roof as I have to drive about 800 miles with it so thought that packing it in a bag then tying the bag down may be a better option....

Any ideas?

Why would putting it into a bag be a better option?

Greater wind resistance would increase fuel consumption. What's the problem with mounting it vertically like everyone else does?

Just want to keep it out of prying eyes whilst in Service stations etc, does not take much to rip a bike off one of those racks......

Most bike racks have locks ? Or you could buy a cable lock for it.

Any bag would do you really but you'll need to strap it down securely.

I'd go for the bike rack option myself.
