woo hoo i'm picking up my new bike one day next week.
the tyres on it are ultremo zx with a double lime green stripe in them.
the bike is a cube and has some bits of the same colour dotted about the bike however
i have some black ultremos off my old bike at home waiting to go on.

so whats it to be plain black?
or helicopter gunship attack on las vegas

  • I think they're cool. Except white tyres get very dirty very quickly.

Bad. Carbon black is present in tyres for good functional reasons. It benefits both wet grip and wear rate.
  • My RAce Pro 3 tyres have a blue strip on them and to be honest think they look fab and more importantly they grip and last well... the blue coloured line is just a nice wee bonus to a great pair of tyres
Enough bikes to open a bike shop but always room for one more...

Keep em until you've worn em out, then you have the option of what to replace them with, depending on whether you've got used to them or not by then

There are some things that are better left the way they used to be and tyres are one of them. Like many others I had to have a set when they first came out but I know now that it wasn't half as cool as I thought.

Black with a gum wall is retro cool - otherwise colours if you match them to the bar tape and saddle, extra points for co-ordinating with your jersey.

It's whatever you like really - I like a bit of colour on a bike though.

Tyres should be black. The only exception is Vittoria Pavè Evo CG.

Apart from Pave CG green (only on Pave CGs) the only other exception is grey Michelin PR3s. I don't think of them as a coloured tyre. Otherwise, it has to be black

Big thumbs down to red, blue, yellow, white, green, celeste, neon, tobacco, mint, magnolia, silver, clotted cream, purple, pink, rasta, vermillion, ochre, lilac, leopard, tartan and anything else.

They look crap after one ride.

Both sets of road tyres I have are black wall, with red tread. So I'm going for helicopter gunship attack on las vegas

Then again, I am much younger than everyone else here I assume

I have a Spesh in battleship grey so the Michelins with a nice red stripe just provide a nice bit of colour and go a treat with the RS80s. Cool.

My retro Alan bike, handbuilt wheels.. black tyres. Bike looks cool enough. 8)

I use Michelin Pro 3's on my best bikes and Lithion 2's on my trainer, I have used Rubinos in black and other makes, never found a problem, I like to colour co-ordinate my bikes, it makes me individual, stop worrying what other people think, if you like them then buy them

Got red Pro3's on my Pinarello and think they look nice. It's all down to individual taste, if you like the colour co-ordinated look go for it otherwise go with black (avoid white on any tyre though as they are a bugger to keep looking 'fresh') !!
I like shiny bikes - especially Italian ones.....!!

Are you worried about what other cyclists will think of your tyres?

Just buy whatever colour you want.

    As long as they're black.

My Cube Agree came with dashing looking Ultremo's with a delightful little white stripe on them that, if I do say so myself, look the tits. And when they go I'm gonna stick a pair of Ultremo's with a red stripe on them just for that extra big of bling. I'm pretty sure they'll make me go faster too :D
