Jeremy Clarkson subjects the Skoda Yeti to a remarkably thorough road test, while James May makes a rare visit to the test track in the insane Aerial Atom V8. Meanwhile, Richard Hammond celebrates the incredible evolution of the Porsche 911 by racing a modern Turbo Cabriolet against its oldest relative and the power of gravity.
Plus there's more heated studio debate with the return of the Cool Wall and another celebrity guest takes their turn in the Reasonably Priced Car.
I hate 911s too.0 -

looks the same as every episode.
which is fine by me.0 -
I'd be happier if they ditched normal episodes in favour of doing more specials a year, i like them much better, then they could just string the star in a reasonably priced car on the end of them bringing them up to 1.5 hrs a show. Filling the half an hour in with another show wouldnt be too hard.0

Yeah sounds pretty decent to me, I doubt there is anything better on tonight anyway.
I think there is something to do with the new stig as well tonight.0 -
Corned beef is delicious.

Better than prancing on ice0

All in all I thought it was a pretty decent episode.
Is Tiff Needell the new stig then?0 -

Aye, and the fact that they didnt show the supposed second tattoo.
The editing on that program is getting worse.0 -

no, just made me want dessert...0 -
The Aerial Atom was an eye raiser, not cheap at £150K but probably the closest thing to an F1 car that anyone with a chunk of disposable income could buy0

After the Caparo T1.
Pfft, can you imagine how rubbish that car would be in this country...?
I'd rather have the bike for £10K... win.Now that we are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. ROMANS 15:10 -
I can imagine the T1 being probably the worst car in the world to drive on the road, but I suppose that's not really the point of it.
The bike was rather nice as well.0 -
If you've got that sort of dosh to spare on a toy, you'll probably also get a big 4wd and a trailer to haul it to trackdays. I remember seeing a test where they drove it about 200 miles across the UK just to see what it was like but can't find it now"I spent most of my money on birds, booze and fast cars: the rest of it I just squandered." Not relevant anyways... the Atom can get over sleeping policemen, Caparo T1 can't :P
Good episode, I want a skoda with a helicopter. Would make up for it being a skoda.... almost.0 -

Last nights episode was ok really. I'd say half good, half w4nk. What was the point of the 911 v falling beetle thing? just stupid :roll:Bikes are OK, I guess... :-)
2008 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Comp.
2013 Trek 1.2
1982 Holdsworth Elan.0 -

I like that bit. I think most people would guess that the 911 wouldn't have a chance.
Certainly gave a an interesting demonstration rather than just topspeed figures or meaningless lap times.0 -
was very similar to mythbusters experiment.
i must admit i was suprised at how long something takes to fall from the sky.
if the race had been done on tarmac, would the porsche have won by miles?0 -
sheepsteeth wrote:if the race had been done on tarmac, would the porsche have won by miles?
If not won, I would have thought it could have been very close.
There was a shot of the dash which showed the TC light showing up. I do know that, like other cars I am sure, the 911 is quite good at reducing engine power to maintain grip but at the drastic cost of acceleration.
It is also possible that Elf and Safety got involved and so it was staged so that only one car would be near the landing zone as the beetle "touched" down.0 -
there is no doubt that the cars were never going to be able to meet but i also saw the TC icon on the dash and t looked like it couldnt get going properly due to the surface.
its always good to see helicopters and cars getting destroyed though so i was a fan of last nights show.0 -
Porsche was 4wd and the TC doesn't cut power completely like an audi, it just winds it in a bit. I'd guess that it would win on tarmac.
Id imagine the shot was done to look far closer than they were but I'd guess they were both going at the same time. All 3 of them have picked up injuries over the years I think they certainly take more risks than your average tv show.0 -

I'm sure May also quoted Lady Macbeth as saying 'is this a dagger I see before me'
Close but no cigar[/i]0
