had my rear wheel rebuilt about year ago (new stainless standard spokes plus 700C rim)
in the last couple of months have broken two spokes, both have broken at the point where the spokes cross each other between hub and rim, and both on cassette side any ideas why this is happening.

  • Guess? Not enough tension allowing spokes to rub on each other. Strange to have spokes snap halfway along their length, normally at the j-bend or nipple.

  • Concur exactly with Blue Meanie. I've never had a spoke break there - anfd I've bust a good many in my time!

What brand/model of hubs, rims and spokes? How many spokes, what cross pattern and how much do you weigh?
