Please can someone explain in carbon frames the difference between 3K and 12K and what is the advantage of one over the other.

As I understand it, it's purely cosmetic. It refers to the width of the characteristic carbon weave they put on top. 12k is wider and IMHO looks cooler.0

The term refers to the amount of fibres used in the weave. 3K gives a finer weave carbon fibre than 12K. Purely cosmetic.0

3K has 3000 fibres per bundle or toe. 12K has 12000fibres per bundle or toe.
12k makes a stiffer bike.0 -

Thanks. I was looking at 2 carbon frames on ebay one 3 and one 12K and wondered what the difference was. Now I know0
