Hi guys,
I have conti gp4000 tubs but if i get a flat its a throw away :(
I am looking for a tubular which can be re stitched and repaired.
Any info on which tub can be repaired.

  • I think I've had a GP4000 repaired - they aren't very good tubs so if changing go for a Conti Competition or Vittoria Corsa CX

Continental do not recommend that their tubs are "mended" .
I would be very surprised if any tub manufacturer actually say for public consumption ,that their tubs can be mended.
As soon as you take a pair of scissors to the stitching the integral structure of the tyre has got to be compromised.
That said ,i have mended conti tubs and found them much easier to mend than vittorias.
Back to the conti, you have to pull away the cotton tape that is glued on the underneath.
BEHIND THAT ,you will find the stitching.
constantly reavalueating the situation and altering the perceived parameters accordingly

All tubs can be repaired. Try this guy - when you get it back you wouldn't know that he's touched it!

You can use Stans to seal it too...

The stitching is along the underneath of the tub below the base tape. Remove the basetape, cut the stitching, repair the hole, stitch back up, re-glue base tape - job done.

I have repaired my Conti tubs twice now and have had no problems. As others have said you have to peel back the backing tape(i reglue mine with Evostick btw) then carefully cut the stitching once you have found the puncture. When I restitch( I use dental floss as thread) I make sure I overlap the old stitches well tying them in with the new. So far no problems at all even up to 160psi.

Hi thanks for reply, but i have pulled back base tape on the gp4000 and there is no stitching completely sealed.
