Can anyone recommend some decent 700/23 training tyres, need to role welll, be resonably light and puncture resistant to the max. Usually ride Michelin Pro's.

I have Pro 3 Races, but usually use Conti Ultra Gatorskins (24 months, no p*nctures!) for bullet proof winter rides.
Have fitted some Michelin Krylion Carbons (25mm) for this winter, a little more comfort with the 25mm, although wont fit in my TT frame!

Stick with your Michelins, i run mine all year, no need to buy different tyres each winter..
  • Have heard just good stuff about Michelin Krylions.

Personally, though, my training clinchers are Schwalbe Durano. On all the local debris-populated and never cleaned roads, no flats so far, and wear also minimal after several thousands of km.

I have always used Michelin krylion carbons for winter use, very comfortable and used to use Gatorskins which weren't bad but not as durable and thinking of using Vittoria open paves 24s soon.
  • I used to use Krylions, but couldn't recommend highly enough Gatorskins - both tyre and tub versions have been great for me!

+1 for Duranos. Awesome tyre. Much better than Krylions, IMO.

Continental Grand Prix Road Tyre (700x24) this tyre out performs its price range neighbours by a mile. It lasts, has good puncture resistance, and rolls great; it's a year round tyre easily good enough for Sportives/Audaxs and general training use.
They came with my new Scott Addict R2 with Mavic Elite wheels and at first I thought I would change the tyres but hey no these felt good and have lasted twice as long as my Pro Race 3's and certainly don't cut any ware as easily.
The only problem maybe locating them, they come as rigid wire-ons as well as fold, the wire ons are cheaper by about a fiver
    .

Used to use Michelin Krylions as they had good grip and P protection but always felt a bit dead, especially when cornering.

I now use but now use Vittoria EVO CG Pave. They grip like a vice and roll very fast.

However not cheap nor the most bomb proof tyre and can cut up a bit too easy.

There's is where I live, mine cut up like hell and got through 2 sets in 4 months, and that was spring and summer  I will admit the 3rd set were no problem at all though so dare I suggest sample varability  They still looked pretty rough after 600m though so really would suggest Krylions unless you only ride on clean main roads and avoid the lanes.

Sorry guys but despite what Vittoria say, Open Pave's are not winter training tyres. To be honest it's expensive and cuts and punctures just as often as Pro3Race in my experience. They're more wet race/sportive tyres, fantastically grippy and so comfortable. But if the guy wants puncture proof then no way.

If you want Vittoria's then go for Rubino Pro Tech's. I've never punctured one in 2 years :) Punctured Open Pave's 5 times in 800miles. Chucked them after that as they were just too ragged looking.

Gatorskins are ok but have no grip in the wet and will puncture occasionally. Conti 4 seasons are the biz but up to £10 more expensive than Krylions.
