my credit card got the better of me and allowed me to get hope red float rotors 183/160. currently running 185/160 avid g3. is it just a matter of getting the washers and spacing right on the caliper and mount ??

all advice welcomed.

    Yep new adapter required.

Or you could have the adapter youve got shaved by 1mm on the top mounting surface??

cheaper to get a new adapter!!

The washers are specifically there to align the caliper so remiving or changing the order of them will not work.

    We all make mistakes :P

Try it and see if it works, it is only 1mm of a difference after all

You need a new adaptor for the rear (obviously) you may get away with running the front one but make sure the pads are fully on the braking surface so you don't end up with a lip on them.

Also you're aware that you usually have to file the tabs off the brake pads on the juicys to get them to work with hope rotors.

1mm is bugger all. you could replace the washers with ones from a set of V brakes as one half is IIRC a bit thiner than the Caliper one.

other option is a file on the front adaptor.

or just leave it and see how it is.

Be aware that if your Avid brakes (presuming this here) have removal tags that point towards the hub you will most likely have to bend them or remove them.

and you will not notice any improvement in braking.

    never said at the start.

the juicys had removal tags that cause problems with Hope Floaters.

It isn't an issue for the elixir 5's

  • I personally wouldn't bother with a new spacer. For the 2mm of extra braking surface it's not really a problem. Only when the pads wear and the lips on the edge of each touch when braking is it time to get the file on the brake pads!

Well, it's cheaper than a new bracket
