Seized maxle

The Maxle in my RS Boxxer's is completely seized. I can insert it and remove it no problem but the locking mechanism is seized, it just forces the other side out instead of releasing. It releases if I hit the other side when it has been forced out hard enough but that usually involves a rubber mallet which can't be good for anything.

So, how do I solve this? I've tried greasing it all up but didn't work.

Get a new multitool with a folding rubber mallet.

have you tried taking it completely to pieces and reassembling it. Sounds like the wedge has jammed in the end of the shaft.

Done that, can't afford a new one at 50 quid.

Maybe I will just carry on using the rubber mallet and hope I don't get a flat on the trails

If it has to be hammered in I'd suggest it's slightly bent.

Have you tried greasing it? Sounds obvious, but when mine stuck in, i found it was because i hadn't greased it.

Yep, greased it plenty and no difference. I have taken the internals out and they don't look bent but then the tiniest bend could make a difference without being noticeable.
