Just bought some bar ends but I can't get my current grips off to fit them.

Any tips or do I need to cut them off?
Got my new Carrera Vengeance Ultimate 11. Mint.

Get some GT85 and use the thin nozzle to squirt it between the grip and the bar. This will loosen it enough to get it off. You will need to repeat the process when putting the grips back on. Once the GT85 dries, the grips will lock in place.

  • For this reason alone, I now use lock-on grips. The number of times I've had to cut grips off because I couldn't get enough GT85 underneath to loosen it off

  • Dont use GT85!! It leves a teflon residue, if any water gets in on normal riding theyl spin round like using fairy liquid!!

Just use water and a spray bottle. Or some Iso propanol (brake cleaner) they leave no residue.

When fitting them put them in hot water they will expand slightly then slip on easily

That wouldn't be good - I used the GT85 on my hybrid bike, which won't be getting wet, and my MTB has lock-ons.
Will bear this in mind in future.
