Anyone else seen it?

Watched it yesterday, have to say I was very impressed, especially seen as the majority of the film is one guy stuck in the same spot not being able to move.

Also the slight bit of biking at the start was nice, I looked in the stunt actors at the end to see if it was anyone famous, but didn't recognise any of the names.

All in all, definitely worth a watch.

I was the same, you wonder how they can make a film about a man that gets stuck in the same place for 5 and a bit odd days interesting. But it really is very good.

The amputation scene is very ummm nasty. If you are not a fan of blood, I would look away at that point.

I heard the same too, it is rather gruesome.

It does make you think though, would you actually be able to chop your own arm off? I doubt I would have the courage to do it, but I guess you wouldn't know unless you were in such a life threatening situation.

See now I was expecting another film like open water, so now I'm quite looking forward to seeing it
Mountain biking is like sex.......more fun when someone else is getting hurt

  • Open water was manure of note.
I do like films that explore the limits of human endurance, as for the amputation, I've read quite a few articles where people have hacked off a limb in order to survive. The tricky part is how you remove it, you could well end up bleeding to death..

I look forward to watching 127 hours

i once chewed my arm off to get away from an ugly bird without disturbing her one morning.

it grew back so it was worth it.

I enjoyed it, I think the film showed how terrible a situation the dude was in very well.

I loved it too, read the book also and it doesn't steer away from the book at all, great film.

I was going to go and see it but went and saw the King's Speech instead, in which disappointingly nobody cuts off their arm, but Mike from Neighbours is in it so it's give and take

I think starting it but then passing out and bleeding to death would be quite likely.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.

saw it today - big fan of danny boyle (even like a life less ordinary!) and wasn't disappointed.

great script, great performance from james franco and brilliant use of cinematic language to keep things moving and fresh once he's stuck in the canyon.

would totally recommend it - and I don't reckon the amputation bit is THAT gory (just cleverly shot to make you think it is - the nerve cutting bit was awesome in this respect)

hmmm this is true, I hadn't considered that actually. I suppose it depends on how much willpower you have, and how desperate you would be after 5 days trapped in such a situation.

Same, I was hoping someone would mention the book, was wondering if it was worth watching, if it was too Hollywood compared to the book

The limb cutting was gruesome, it was funny in parts.
Wondered who that woman was all the way through as it wasn't mentioned in the book
It's really inspirational you have to watch it.
