Got another problem with another Dell 1545, screen related again.. It has a brand new screen, screen cable and inverter.

I installed the new screen and it would recieve power but it was very dim, you could just about make out the log on screen. I checked all the cables and the screen cable had a few frayed wires, so I bought a new one. Still got the same problem, I email the guys I bought the screen off, they think it may be a broken inverter - new inverter bought and fitted - no difference made.

Any help?! Not buying anymore bits for it..

Cheers

  • Take it out back and beat down on it with a heavy object.

Go buy yourself a Mac and if you cannot survive without Windoze, use Bootcamp..

  • Have you tried adjusting the screen settings? Sounds like you may need to try the brightness and contrast settings.....
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

I'd buy a Mac if I could afford one..

And yes I have, they want me to send it back now so they can check the firmware.

    ..Anyone want a Dell?
  • I doubt very much firmware has anything to do with it, if its under warranty just send it back and get them to repair it properly. If you have replaced the monitor, cables and inverter then there is a possibility it could the motherboard, or graphics chipset causing problems.
