Pardon my ignorance but | had read somewhere that it was not possible to have titanium frames painted. I don't think I have ever seen any but Enigma are offering some bikes at 'clearance' incl a painted Etape ;

Yes it is. Seven and/or IF have been doing them for yonks. There does tend to be an abrubt transition between painted and non-painted bits though - a step which can chip easily.
Sort of defeats the low maintenance/timeless appeal of Ti though, if its covered in paint. (IMO)0 -
I think that link is the definitive answer! It's fine to paint titanium.0

You never heard of Baum or IF? Check these out:

Thanks guys - Up to now Enigma / Van Nicholson and Sabbath have only had bare/brushed/polished frames so I guess they are more poular. Like you say painting the frame somewhat defeats the 'no scratches' look.0

I had my Ti MTB frame painted by Argos Cycles.
Some people love the lovely Ti brushed look - hence why it's not popular.Simon0 -
I have a titanium Colnago which is half polished / half painted - the painted bits had to be 'roughed-up' to get the paint to adhere more strongly but it's been fine for 5 years.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

most don't want it painted because when you just shelled out large dough for it, you want people to be able to see what it is. A bit like carbon weave, ferrari badges etc.FCN 120

Go to www.serotta.com and into the paint selector. Choose a Ti model eg Legend and let your imagination run riot. As above,Seven and IF also paint TiM.Rushton0

I've got a painted Enigma (you can see it in the 'Your bikes' section). It an Enigma Esprit and the finish is superb.0

I also have a painted engima etape... (will put a picture up one day). Matt black frame with exposed polished stays... very smart (IMHO). Enigma will do any paint scheme you would like (at a price).0
