Me and my wingman hi Andy! have signed up for the above mentioned sportive.

New for 2011, the Mendips Sportive. This stunning Sportive does a circuit of the Mendip hills which is a area of Outstanding Natural beauty. The route weaves it way through the Mendips passing the stunning Chew Valley and Blagdon lakes. The Mendips will provide some challenging climbs balanced with sublime scenery and breathtaking views. The quiet nature of the area and roads will ensure you can explore this area in peace; giving you ability to taking in the constant changing landscape and enchanting views.
looking for a bit of a heads up for this, as we're Taunton-ites (and sportive 1st timers ) , and don't really know the area.
Any pearls of wisdom would be gratefully received!

No excuses for not doing 100 miles then - damn0 -
It will probably include a few longish hills - Burrington Combe and Cheddar Gorge are likely to feature, and also a couple of shorter, steeper and IMO more testing climbs from the Chew Valley up to the top of the Mendips through either Blagdon or one of the Harptrees. The route may also drop over towards Wells and could include the Old Bristol Road which tests the legs a bit.
As well as the Bath 100 there is also the Black Rat Challenge which covers a similar area.0
