anyone got one of these? fairly strong legs, would a triple still be better?

  • First road bike bought Dec 09 trek 1.2 compact. This has served me superbly well and I am really happy with it and would certainly recommend it. I think you could manage without a triple. I have managed to get up Peak Hill in Sidmouth.

I have a Trek 1.2 (Triple) - only went for Triple as it was last in shop - so cheap!

A compact would have been fine for my needs.

I think it is a great starting bike, very good all rounder.

    Stiff, light and agile.

Also has eyelets for mudguards and a pannier rack which is a bonus.

Just bought one & so far I really like it. Has a decent frame which looking forward can be upgraded in time. reasonable componants. Triple vs compact? depends on how steep a hill your trying to get up- most stuff a compact will suit fine
  • 34 x 25 at 60 rpm (grovelling) is 6.5 mph. Much slower an you can push it as fast.

Therefore the double is fine unless you are planning to haul 50lbs of gear over the Alps

  • Mate of mine has a 1.2, loves it! Really solid bike, I don' think you can go wrong.
