Started commutting to work on my Defy Alliance and after several punctures have decided to try 25mm Marathon Plus' to ensure I get to work on time each day..but I am also doing 'Lap the Lough ' this year but will these tyres be a hinderance ( my ave MPH only 16 / 17 anyway ) on training rides?

In my experience they feel bloody slow - however this could be due to the sh!t bike that I have them on. Regardless, your body doesn't care whether it's doing 12mph or 20mph - its how hard/fast you pedal that counts.

Get some lighter tyres for your sportif ? Heavier tyres will slow you a bit on your training rides but that's no bad thing. On lighter tyres you'll fly.

    I've fixed that for you.
  • The way to a puncture free Lap the Lough.

Your new tyres aren't going to reduce 'performance', as it where. Instead, a Marathon Plus will give you a slightly less comfortable ride - they aren't the most supple of tyre.
