Does anyone remember an Endurance TV programme that was on roughly 7 - 10 years ago - can't remember the year - It was based outdoors in a green valley and had new events each week - It was on late at night, sort of 1:00 am - 2:00 am ish. It included "odd" events such as building a tower made of bricks to reach a flag at the top of a central pole - each competitor had to run backwards and forwards with large bricks to build their own tower, then walk up it to get the flag, (took like 7 hours or something) - There was another event were the competitors pumped water backwards and forwards against each other for hours - (show showed highlights obv.). IIRC it had a hodge-podge of competitors from Triathletes to former national Push-Up champions (a colourful-mix of different talents basically) - can't remember much about it tbh. Does anyone know the name of it?

Don't think it was Survivor - it was something like in a Welsh valley and had the weirdest arrangement of Endurance guys I've seen, Cant remember the competitors but they came from unusual disciplines.

  • never seen it but sounds bloody great idea for a tv programme :D

Not sure what channel it was on Nap - it could have been early FreeView (2002,2003,2004 ish) or maybe just some odd programme on 4 or 5. Thinking about it, it had quite a bit of Strength endurance in it (and mental endurance) - it's the sort of programme were they'd get the competitors to cut up a fallen tree/log (a tree each) with an axe, and then put their resulting bits into a small space - whoever does their tree the fastest wins that event. The pumping water event was weird - it had a massive tube contraption, about 50ft long, were the competitors had to pump water from their end to their opponents end continuously for hours - whoever stopped pumping, lost - (think they went round a pole with a lever on it to pump the water). The flag/bricks event was a bit mad aswell - it was like building part of the Pyramids (Eygpt) on your own (much smaller version admitedly) - whoever built their triangular tower first got the flag. I would have had no back left after that one

there used to be something like that on Discovery. Can't remeber the title but i'm sure the word "Adventure" was in there. Had one thing where they had to collect "eggs" one at a time from opponents "nest" and take them back to their own, first one to get all of opponents wins - with the nests being at the top of two very big hills.

Might be a different show all together i'm thinking of! Did they have to wear coloured bibs throughout the whole thing?

The original 'Endurance' was a japanese show that was shown late on Channel Four many years ago.

I watched that. It was quite good, if overlong. It was like Superstars for masochists.

Presented by the bloke out of Blake's 7

Some cross country skiier won it I think. The cyclist (Andy Wilkinson) did pretty well (2nd or 3rd)
