Hi guys I just got a new BMC trail fox and took it out riding today and it was great until all of a sudden the back felt very soft like it lost all of the air. I had my pump with me and when I checked the pressure it did not move it was the same as when I left the house 150 psi so I added 10 more psi and changed the dampening a bit and it stiffened back up? Has anyone had this problem b4 ?

sometimes with new forks lockout won't work till you have cycled the fork a few times. Maybe a similar thing all the oil working through the damping circuits:-p.

Had a similar thing on my rp2 on my anthem. After first ride i think all the bits had bedded in and ?sticktion? Reduced so went thru the first 1/3 - 1/2 of travel way to easy. Added another 5-10 psi and going strong ever since.

that is odd if the pressure was the same as it should be lower as you would have had to "charge" the pump and gauge when attaching it to check.

    What is your sag like?

    did the adjusters get moved?

Thanks for the answers guys!! The sag is at 25 percent it is a 120mm frame and it just got real squishy and was using full travel over very small bumps. I am not sure but may have heard a pop noise I had my headphones on so not sure but it holds air fine and seems ok now its just weird.

so the sag is the same?

    check your damping/propedal settings then.

Sorry the sag was 50 percent and not 25 where I set it and the pressure was 20 psi less now that I thin about it. I had another problem as well when the shock got soft the front derailleur hit the frame and gouged it. I cant get the front derailleur properly adjusted without hitting the frame on the bottom of the travel . If i move it so it does not hit the frame it wont shift to the small ring.
  • Is it stuck down - or does it extend to it's full length?

No i pumped it up it works fine now I don't get it its like it lost air and now its ok funny.
  • Let all the air out of the shock with the rear wheel off the floor, if the shock compresses alot (without the wheel on the floor) it is likely it's stuck down, i.e the air spring is negativly charged with air have got onto the wrong side of the seal making the spring work backwards.

If this is the case it's a warranty repair at Mojo. If not reset sag and enjoy your new bike!
