Just bought a set of stainless steel speedplay pedals which are fantastic. Only problem being is that they take a bit more looking after than most. Can anyone tell me if I can use any grease gun to maintain the pedals or is it some specific type tool? No shops I know stock speedplay pedals and I would much prefer not to spend £30.00.

Any grease gun will do the job, although I found I needed a pretty fine nozzle to make sure the grease actually made in into the body and not just around the port.

Fiddly job and yes, definitely higher maintenance than Look pedals, but worth the effort!

I just bought a trigger and nozzle unit that screws on to a tube of Finish Line white gease. It cost about £10. Then I picked up the Speedplay grease gun in the sale for £15. This comes with marine grade grease. They don't need greasing that often actually. Careful you dont overtighten the little screws that hold the end caps on. This is the weak part of the Speedplay design.
