Loves the sound of his own voice.

Talks over songs, jingles and guests.

Worse is that he really thinks he's funny.

Hmmn if that's the best you can say about him it's hardly praise.[/b]
  • He's been utter tripe for years.

Does he still have his posse that applaud him at the beginning of his show? C  ck!

There's a Facebook group that's started to get him off the airwaves..

The Daily Fascist also has some joyous pictures of him crawling out the back of his 4x4...

Not a huge fan, but still end up listening to his show if I'm in car.

I listen to his shows. Have done since he was on Radio 1.

There are some I wouldn't ever listen to - him that took over from Wogan in the mornings and the whining Jeremy Vine. Radio goes off if they're on.

But hardly a subject worth getting twisted over.

This is Tom Binns perfectly capturing the DJ style of Steve Wright, who I always found very irritating. Each to there own I suppose.

You can always put your views fwd to the Head of Music at Radio 2 Jeff Smith who I was at Uni with (he had talent, I didn't). You can get him via Twitter or email but is Steve Wright unpopular or is it just a few people on here. I hate The Archers but I just make sure I don't listen to it. If enough people don't listen to Steve Wright then his show will go. Seems a bit sad that you want to get the guy fired off because you don't happen to like his afternoon show. Me, I'm working so I don't get to listen but clearly some of you have nothing else to worry about but a Radio 2 DJ

Mark Radcliffe was brilliant when he took over a few times while Steve Wright was on holiday, he should get that slot.

I'm thinking of organising a sponsored ride to raise enough money to buy The Old Woman a ticket to Dignitas, anyone interested?

I think he's OK - maybe a bit too slick and forumulaic - I'm sure there are better options who would cost less but don't have the famous name that seems to be a requirement for a prime time BBC slot.

it's a hard life if you don't weaken.

It's an afternoon show on Radio 2 not the Today programme so he isn't going to be controversial as that is not the programming format, but I'm glad you are able to listen to a variety of Radio shows as part of your job

On the few times I've heard him, I've always found 'Ask Elvis' most amusing. My favourite was when someone asked Elvis how to make a Victoria sponge cake.

Thought Ask Elvis was mildly amusing. He never seems to be on anymore. Factoids? Hmm, ok(ish). However as may have been pointed out before in the thread, one of the pluses is that Steve Wright seems to be very rarely on his own show.

AFAIK Steve Wright hasn't changed his show in years. The few times I've listened he's just as annoying as he always was. The average age of his audience must be about 86 now.

I can believe that people would actually whittle their life away listening to a radio show presented by a man they obviously detest,
just so they can p1ss and moan about it on a blog.

Is the 'off' button beyond their comprehension, or are these some of the tedious 'points of view' regulars that believe that because they pay their licence fee, every aspect of the BBC and it's output should solely revolve around them and their tastes.

I listen to him if I'm in the car at the time, he's alright, with the old woman and funny old man. Can't listen to that buffoon Chris Evans but Steve Wright is ok.

Anything is better than that fat c*nt Moyles on Radio 1 anyway .....

In the daily hate article it claims he says he ways about 14 stone:

    article-0-05E437ED000005DC-583_468x670.jpg

Now either the photo lies and he's actually quite short....in which 14 stone for him would be alot. OR the "about 14 stone" is give or take 3 stone.

I realise he's not Jeremy Paxman but jeez its painful at times !

On nice days when I'm not listening to light entertainment on the radio,I even get to go out on my bike !

He also has a very annoying habit of joining in over the end of a song or always talking over a classic song/cutting it off early! Grrrr.

Yes totally agree with most of the above, he does rabbit on far too much,as do a lot of jox nowadays, i can remember one time i could turn my radio on and actually listen to some music.
Also remember SW slagging off lycra clad cyclists, with their silly helmets, and all those lights they have attached to their bikes, - then seeing the pic of him (as posted earlier) in the paper
and thinking to myself 'well Mr fat a*se why not get a bike yourself and try losing some of that lard!!

I like DJs who take their music seriously and don't talk over intros or fades. Ken Bruce, Johnnie Walker, Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Maconie are by far the best on R2.
  • Steve Wright only reads out letters from people who say how much they love him and his show. I know this because me and my mates write to him regularly to tell him we think he's a c*nt and he never reads our letters out.

Craig Charles stood in for SW a few weeks back and done a very good job too, played some good music, and altho he talked it wasn't ott, more a relaxing manner.

When was this golden age of radio people talk fondly of? lets look at the illustrious names that graced our airwaves.

    Noel Edmonds/Tony Blackburn/Jimmy Saville/Alan Freeman/David Hamilton/Bruno Brookes/DLT/Simon Bates?Mike Read.

As you can tell I'm of a certain age and all those listed were 5HiTE imo. J.Walker/Bob Harris/S.Maconie/mark Radcliffe/John Peel all play(ed) music I listen to. S. Wright? i don't listen to him, not my thing but he plays the format he is required to.In an earlier post I gave a name of someone at the BBC. Ask him what it is that keeps Wright employed by the BBC.

    Kenny Everett was the best.
