Has anybody got one of the solo gilets. They look really well made and was wondering if anybody had bought one?

I have one in red and am well pleased. Good quality and fit.

I think the sizing is slightly more generous than Assos. Solo sizing guide was spot on for me, but you can always e-mail the company for advice. I found them very helpful.

Solo sizing is generous IME - in fact not really suited to the slimmer 'racing' cut
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

By the looks of it I'm a small . Love the staying of the gilet so I might give the white one a punt.

I found there wasn't enough ventilation on the back (i'm a sweaty bugger). Material is OK but really basic/cheap compared to the likes of Gore etc. even at the same price point, fit is like Dhb i.e. lardy (suited me at the time!). I think they rely on people liking how they look, which is a shame because the rest of their range that I've tried is really good stuff regardless (knee warmers get special mention for being comfortable enough to wear for 200km).
  • I've got a red one too - mines a bit baggy on me, but not OTT (can't remember the size).

What I do find is an issue, is that the hem is elasticated, and once I'm bent over, it tends to work its way up my back - its natural position is above my jersey pockets, which means it both bags lots, and leaves me with a cold back.

As such I tend to use it mountainbiking and commuting, where I'm wearing a pack which keeps it in position nicely. Less effective for roadieing.

Thanks for the feedback , I think I'll rethink my options given what you said and the fact I fell off tonight on ice and need to pay for repairs to my shifters and scuffed assos jacket grrrrrr

Get on well with mine, don't find the fact that it has a 'solid' rather than a mesh back to be a problem. A big plus is the large amount of reflective material on it for catching dull drivers attention at this time of the year. Wore it during the heavy rain and high winds in last years Merlin Ride and it kept me warm (though not dry!) while the other people I rode with suffered. Sizing is fine but if you've got doubts contact Solo (Mark who works there is a good South Wales boy so I'm sure he'd be happy to help).
