Trek remedy 7 pro-pedal

Hi,
I've just got my first full sus bike and went for one of this years Trek Remedy 7's. I've been out 3 times on it now and am still getting used to just rolling over everything.
My question is when do you use your pro-pedal? So far I've done both road and off road climbs and every single time it feels like it climbs faster and easier with the pro-pedal turned to the off position. Soon as I turn it to the on position, the rear end just doesn't feel as settled into the road and the tyres just don't seem to get any where near as much grip.
Any one got any got any suggestions on when, or indeed if, it's best to use the pro-pedal at all?
Cheers

I use mine for road rides and long hard stomps out of the saddle, or just when I dont want to loose any effort due to pedal bob!!
I love it I think it makes a massive difference to climbing on the bike! Just wish it was a remote lever on the bar.0
