I was just thinking today how great Vanish pre-wash Stain Remover is for getting out road grime from my winter jersey (which is yellow!). Just using washing powder/gel/ tabs etc would leave a faint trace of each spot of muck, but the Vanish sprayed on and left for 2 minutes before washing gets ALL trace of dirt out. Fantastic.

Still on the subject of washing products, Ariel liquid scrubbed into white bar tape with an old toothbrush and then rinsed off does a reasonable job of getting the grime out and the colour back.

Sudocrem is another which I can personally endorse (pictures if needed!!!!)

So, what products can others recommend and for which jobs/ problems?

Happy descents...

My son once complemented me on my calf definition as he followed me up a hill. Does that count?

Rain X repellant - to stop shades getting to opaque in the rain

Sudocreme - not bad, but leaves marks on yer grunds

Salt - to wash down there to stop any fungal infections setting in.

Washing up liquid - with some water and a big sponge to clean the bike.

Helicopter Tape - to stop cable rub on the frame / stones scratching the bottom of the frame

Care with Rain-X as it's not meant to be used on plastics (according to the directions)

Yes, I would stay away. Rain-X is fine on some plastic lenses but others it can destroy hardcoatings and anti-glare coatings, etc. The problem is not knowing if your particular lenses are safe.

Got to be baby wipes for cleaning every part of the bike except the bar tape, which is a fairly liquid and scour spong jobby.
