Shimano SRam Campag compatability - STI's

Wondering if I can use Sram or campag STi shifters with shimano mechs and chainset or not?!

Simply put, stick to the same make of shifters and gear mechs to save yourself a headache! There are some fixes / bodges to make things inter-compatible but they are generally sub-optimal.
It's a little bit simpler for wheels and cassettes - Shimano and SRAM are compatible, although neither works that well with Campagnolo - and vice versa.
Chainsets are least affected by different drivetrains - as long as the chainrings are the right width for the number of gears.
To explain this is any more detail or give details of the work-arounds would probably take the rest of the afternoon!
