Hi all i need help with my new frame and headset!!
i have just got a Giant XTC 2011 frame and a hope headset. When I got the frame I removed the headset that came with it. and then tried to fit the hope headset not knowing its too small and thought the part of the headset that is meant to be showing is the part that needs to be in the head tube and I have made the top of the head tube bigger by trying to force the hope headset in. now the headset that it came with is too small as is the hope headset. what can i do to fix this without buying a new frame any ideas anyone??????????

How deep have you forced the wrong headset in?

    Opps.

sounds like a new frame is needed.

  • the hope headset sits flush with the top of the head tube. and it wont sit level if you know what i mean.

If he has pressed an external hope headset into an internal headset frame then all the interface for the internal cup will be damaged.

    New frame.

    New frame.

Depending how deep. I fear it is a replacement but if he has forced a too small internal into the tube but not too far a ream and face may ameliorate the problem

  • the hope headset is an internal one. but the new giant frames head tube is larger than the hope headset so i tried forcing the top part of the hope headset making the head tube misshape and the damage is about 7 mm down.

7mm donw, new frame I'm afraid, look on the bright side, you can choose the frame you want to go with your components!
