10 spd shifter question

Would like to bling up the bike by fitting 10 spd shifters, cassette and chain to a Tiagra/105 based groupset. I hear that a Shimano 105 5700 LH shifter will only work with a Shimano 5700 or 5600 front mech - is this true?

    No, the 5700 / 6700 shifter works with Tiagra and 105 (old and new) and Ultegra (old and new) etc without any probs. I`ve done it myself and it`s fine.

    The 5700 looks and will feel slightly different to the Tiagra (4500). I'm pretty sure the 7800, 6600 & 5600 have the same shape.
