I have narrowed my Halfords C2W scheme purchase down to one of the following bikes.
Dolan Mythos
Cinelli Xperiance

Does anyone have any experience ('scuse the pun!) of either of these models? It will get fitted with the MK2 Crudcatchers and be used as my 'fast' winter bike.
I have heard the Cinelli can be a bit stiff but I am not sure, if a carbon stem was added if this would really be a problem

Thanks

Ben

I have a Cinelli Xperience that I got on cyclescheme and have been using as a commuter/winter bike. It's been fine and I've been happy with it. It's a good looking bike for the money and the Veloce groupset is very good (as a result I'm selling my Shimano/Sram gear and going full-Campag). The wheels have been no trouble.

The frame feels a tad harsh in the way that alu frames do IMO. I had a Cannondale CAAD5 and I think the ride is very similar. I don't think changing the stem would make any difference. Maybe a carbon post would be good for it, but having all the matching Cinelli finishing kit is nice so I've left as is.
  • How much does the difference in frame stiffness make? Currently my summer riding is on a Viner Gladius which I adore. As a full carbon frame I find it very comfortable for long rides. I am erring towards the Xperience but I keep seeing comments about the frame being really stiff which is giving me a nagging doubt.

Unfortunately I can't test ride first. I am quite a light rider though so not sure if that would help with the comfort.

If I added a carbon post am I likely to really still notice a big difference in comfort between a carbon frame and a 'stiff' Alu frame?

I fully appreciate this depends on the rider but if anyone has their own experience their thoughts would be welcome.
