Might be a hard question to answer but which avi codec do i need to download for windows media player to be able to view cycling torrents files?

if your downloading from file sharing sites don't bother with playing them through windows media player. It's too fussy about what it likes.
Get VLC media player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - It's free and works a treat and will play any video file in any format.0 -

Another option is get hold of the K-Lite codec pack and use another media player. Plenty more other than WMP available.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
