Help, i have bent rotors, and am new to all this. I have avid elixir 5 185mm rotors, on IS mounts. To go to alligator 180mm rotors, do i have to buy new mounts, or can i do a washer swap, or file the original mounts? Sorry to be pushy, but there is a big sale on which finishes in 24hours and I can get alligator rotors cheap. I realise that avids are better, but I am only a beginner and have spent too much money already :( Didn't realise that the second hand bike i brought had bent rotors.

Any help appreciated.

You can straighten out bent rotors

You don't need the special tool, a clean adjustable spanner & some patience is all that's required.

well only your rear is IS mount. your front is post mount.

get some 180 mounts if you want 180 discs.

^^^^ becasue he can get the 180 mm cheaper?

as ^^^^ said before, why can't you strighten them out?

I did that on a shimano XT centre lock rotor yesterday - just used thumbs on the "spoke" and fingers on the braking surface and gentle coaxing took out somwhere between 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm disc wobble - surpisingly easy to do.
