Hi all, does anyone know why some dealers are selling the Cannondale Synapse Carbon 105 with different wheelsets ? Some sites have them with Shimano RS10's and others with Mavic Aksium Race.

Also which are the better wheels, I've no experience of either.

By the way, on the Cannondale website they are spec'd with the Mavic Aksium Race.

Many thanks

Both are good budget wheels. Aksiums sell for around £150 and RS10s around £100.
I have had both and for me the Aksiums would be my choice, fairly stiff, not too heavy, comfy ride and look good :D

I have had both and would say the mavics are a lot stronger and nicer to look at 8) i still use the askiums on my winter bike and the are very good.

  • By contrast I found that Mavic Aksiums were, even for budget wheels, heavy, flexy and uncomfortable. Then the rim on the front wheel fractured! I hated them.

2011 Aksiums are (at least according to Mavic) a big chunk lighter than previous versions, at 1795g
