Hi Guy's
Went over Swinley today which was pretty muddy and sandy so the bike got fairly covered but nothing to cause any issues. All was going fine for the first 3 or 4 miles and I had a couple of issues.
While climbing hills in the small front chain ring and the large rear (granny gear) the peddles would periodically lock solid. On closer examination it appear that the chain has got stuck on the front chain ring pulling the rear mech up towards the front of the bike and taken a chunk out of the swing arm weld.
This only seemed to happen uphill while applying a bit of weight to the peddles to try and power up the hill, also seemed to happen in the second to last rear large gear.
Setup is:
Bike = Commencal Super 4 carbon
Rear Gear = 11-34 SRAM PG 980
Chain = KMC X9 SL
Front Gear = Tripple Race Face Turbine
Front Mech = Shimano XT
Rear Mech = Sram X0
I tend to keep my bike spotless and clean the chain with a degrease and re-apply lube every other ride, also make sure all gears are running nice to.
I have taken the bike to bits, cleaned, checked for wear and all seems to be good. The chain appears to be loose but I have a chain wear tool and it appears that the chain is within tolerance. When you wiggle the links you do get more twist movement than a Shimano hyperglide chain, not sure if this is ok, chain is only around 6 weeks old.
Any help would be appreciated guys.
