Hi, i am totally new to fox forks and need your help. When comparing forks, i get lost in a world of floats, 32's, 36's, and RL's. what do each of these mean, and what fork should i be looking for if im after a 1 and 1/8 steerer and standard QR skewers?
Cheers

thinking of an on-one frame build, used mostly for trail centres but a bit of commuting too, hence the 1 and 1/8 steerer and the standard QRAm i strange in that i actually ENJOY going up hills? Yes, yes i am.

I use a 32 Float RL on my 456 and love it but pay the extra for the RLC if you can afford it. Make sure you don't rule out Rockshox though, a pair of Pikes would be great as well and possibly a lot cheaper0

If I were you, I'd save my money and go for some Dual position Rockshox Revelations.
I had a set of the 2011 Fox 32RLC 150mm versions and found them a bit meh to be honest. Recently tried a mates bike with the new revs on and much prefered them.
They are OK, but nothing astonishing, and remember that you have to pay through the nose for servicing at an approved Fox centre (of which there are 2). Wheras you could service the Revs yourself.
Just my 2p.0 -
Float 32 RLs are probably the best value, as there is alot of OEM stuff around. That said, I would think the F120s would suit a hardtail better. The Floats tend to be as long as is trendy on trail bikes (so 150mm now, 160 next year?). The F series is XC orientated, Float is trail, Vanilla is Freedride. TALAS tries to be all things to all bikes.A Flock of Birds

I definitely think there's a subjective feel to the damping. Some prefer Fox, some RS.Cat With No Tail wrote:remember that you have to pay through the nose for servicing at an approved Fox centre (of which there are 2). Wheras you could service the Revs yourself.
You can service Fox yourself too. The only thing you'd miss out on is a possible second year of warranty (which requires a service after a year). Plenty of other places will also serivce Fox for you.0
