You could be disappointed and then it could be the most exhilarating day of your life, all depends on what you are hoping to find when you get there.

Thats a good video, think i'll go tommorow now.
  • How could we say if you would be disappointed? I don't know you, or the trails you like.

Also depends on how far you are travelling to get there, if across the country then may not be worth it, but only an hour could very well so be!

You'll love it, one of the best trail centres in the UK, lots of work going on there at the moment. Freeride section just finished, pump track, skills section - they just need a proper end for the red-black section (might even have one now)

Also one of the best Cafe's at any trail centre.
  • Llandegla is responsable for me falling back in love with mountain biking, suffered a pretty bad injury when i was 20 so gave up riding completely but after going through a rough patch and needing to get my head straight i visited last year and it was one of the best days out i've had. Although if it wasn't for Llandegla my bank ballance would be a hell of a lot healthier than it is currently after ordering a Commencal Meta 5.5 last week :-s
What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?

cheers lads for youre feedback, will get a ride organised shortly, looking forward to it now :D
  • Llandegla was my first ever proper MTB ride. Bloody loved it. I'm lead to believe tha the black isn't as technical a black as a lot of others, but it was enough to get me whooping!

Any idea on trail conditions at Llandegla at the moment? I'm heading over there next Thursday and am wondering whether to leave the Mud Xs on or to go back to Maxxis Advantages.

I've not been for a few months but there's very little if any mud at Llandegla whatever the weather.

Llandegla is a place to go and have fun and a good day out, but not a place to go if you fancy a bit of a challenge.
Never put off until tomorrow something that you can do today. 'Cause if you do it today, and like it, the you can do it again tomorrow!!

    You'll need mud tyres still.

I went on Sunday and all the exposed areas are really muddy!! The black parts in the forest are fine, but to get to them it's so messy.

It was awful weather here (20 miles away) on friday and saturday, when I went at 1 on sunday the place was rammed, up to the overflow carpark, down and round the back past one of the little jump area's. No chance for the place to dry out with all the people.

:? the trails at llandegla are either hardpack or at least pretty rocky, it gets wet yes (we're in wales), but they dont cut up badly and i've never felt the need for full-on mud tyres there, if next week stays dry (and its looking settled) that'll be 2 weeks without heavy rain here so stick the advantages back on Bails!

post here how you get on anyway as i'm up there the day after you

to the OP: long drive from lancaster when you have the lakes and the dales on your doorstep, depends whether you want a change (assuming you've explored there) BUT CL offers alot more than it did a couple of years ago.

make sure you do both the new and the old black trails and while its not the most challanging location its fast, fun and theres enough to hold interest for an aftenoon.....

personally i avoid at the weekends, oh, and the reds good fun at night.

I'll go with the advantages. I only bought the Mud Xs because of the foot deep mud on my local routes: 02012011390.jpg

I guess there'll be none of that at Llandegla. I don.t mind slipping about on the odd muddy bit if it means I'm faster and have more grip on the rocky (painful!) bits.

Do the full black in less than an hour, now that’s a challenge , look at it how you like , you can make it as challenging as you want it to be.

Travelled down form Derbyshire last year and it was lame! Mixed bunch of riders and we all came to the same conclusion. I suggested the idea on the back of an MBUK review and still believe they owe me £20 diesel money! W@nkers.

if you are thinking about heading up tommorow do so, esp if your heading out of the TC and onto the moors.

i was up above the trail centre (over the boards, up by the masts, llantisysillo mountain, down to llan) yesterday and its pretty much perfect at the moment: dry, mud frozen but not much standing ice 8) .

thaw and rain coming make the mosst of it.

Joe: I think there is a place to stay been reccomended by others in llandega, if you do a search i'm sure it would come up, otherwise plenty in nearby llangollen and theres a couple of routes up to the trail centre from round there.

Kaz: i'm also local and get up there now and again but usually at short notice due to work and family comitments, anyway am up there friday AM this week, could do a loop of the blue before i head off over the top.
  • was up there on sunday - not too much mud, certainly a lot lot better than cannock! The new parallel universe bit is ace - really fast and swoopy!
    Canyon AM 6.0
At some point i am going to manage to jump one of these things.....

Been up to Degla today and it just gets better and better each time i go maybe it's that i'm learning the tracks which is building my confidence or that i'm becoming a better rider.

Took two complete newbies today and although the weather wasn't great they absolutely loved it (they want to go again in a few weeks) even though one of my mates ended up with 4 seperate flats  . Took them on True Blue and the Red route, the red route was sooooo worth it because i got to see one of the funniest offs in my life. My mate came out of a berm too wide and hit a tree stump, he sumersaulted over the handlebars yet kept hold of the bike. He was lied on his back with both wheels in the air holding on to the bars and feet still on the pedals  i just wish i'd have gotten it on video because you've been framed would have given me £200
