Whats your longest single session on a turbo?

Just as a matter of interest really, how long have you managed to stay on a turbo in a single session?

Not interested in knowing your speeds, heart ratesor power outputs or anything like that...just how long you managed to keep going before boredom kicks in...

Until last night, I'd only done one hour at the most.
Last night, as it was raining outside, thought I'd do two. The last 30 mins was tedious.

(If anyone is interested, I've been doing an hour a night on the turbo in front of the TV since Jan 1st and I've already dropped 1st 2lbs from 16st 11 to 15st 9 :)

I usually do 30 to 40 minutes but have managed a full hour when using a Sufferfest video.

During the snow I did a 2.5 hours session on the turbo, but normally if there is snow I will do 2 sessions in a day of about 1.5 hours.

Boring as hell it maybe, but needs must and all that.

A bit over 2 hours, watching the 2009 Tour stage 1 TT live on TV.
Normally I do 1.15 - 1.30 and I always watch racing footage, old Tours etc. which helps motivate me along with the goals I have. Don't get bored as such, just get itchy for the open road if it's been a while.
I would get pretty bored if I didn't have racing footage on the TV though.

Did a 3.5 hour session last year ( 3 hour Spinervals interval DVD plus 30 mins warm-up / down) when the snow and ice were too bad to get on the road.

Not something I'm keen to repeat, mind you.

I regularlly do 3 to 4 hr sessions.

I am lucky though I bought a Tacx iMagic Turbo (VR) one very cheapily.

I also have another TV next to it for DVDs.

    My last four our sessions...

I did two ergo videos on the TACX (you have to maintain x power) and watched iron man and saving private ryan.

The last 30 mins always boares the hell out of me thoughj!

iron man 2 has a great last 30min
  • +1 for the Spinervals Tough Love session. Nowhere near as good as being outside, but when the weather is really poor it makes being on the turbo for 3 hours slightly better!

  • An hour, the last 45 mins of which are bloody boring.
  • I've done a 6 in the past. It was fairly unpleasant.
    Regularly do 3hrs these days.

What the heck are you all hoping to gain from these stupidly long sessions?

I used to have the complete Tacx workout set and even they didn't have anything past about 1hr30 for Pro level riders.

Up to 45 minutes. I get incredibly bored after that. The longest might be just over 1 hour. I've been told that after 30 minutes I start to sing and mumble to the mp3 tracks I listen too.

same , as regards training in general , the quality of these sessions in some cases must be dismal , i see this all the time , people tell me they do these sessions in the gym and i see them all the time on various bits of kit , yet wonder why they are still fat , time spent on a training session does not equal quality ,
its incredibly hard to train properly at an effective leval to gain increases ,
