Hi,
i am getting some new 180mm discs and wondered which are the best out of these 2 discs.
NEW Alligator WHITE Disc Brake Rotor 180mm 96g £14.99
NEW Alligator Windcutter WHITE Disc Brake Rotor 180mm 115g £18.99
I think the first ones seem better due to being lighter and cheaper but have never used them so any help would be great.
Also which disc pads are best for overall stopping power on Avis juicy ultimates.
Many thanks Gaz

I prefer the look of the second ones, as they're similar to mine. As for which is better, I don't think there will be much difference tbh, except the weight.
What bike are they going on? If you have a lightweight XC race machine, then the top ones would probably suit your needs more, but if you have a heavier/burlier build, maybe consider the second set.
That said, it's doesn't really matter, both will no doubt perform as they are designed to, it would boil down to personal preference.
As for pads, you can't really go wrong with Superstars pads. I use the Kevlar ones most of the time, they seem to do it all, all year round, for a good price!
Organic pads will generally provide slightly better stopping power (I believe), but will wear out a lot quicker in most cases, due to the compound used.0 -
ive been using the bottom ones (in gold) with Avids for about 12 months, no probs at all, also using Superstar pads, works well together. cant comment on the top ones but from a personal view prefer the look of the bottom ones, the tops look 'flowery' while the bottoms scream 'aggressive'! :twisted:Falcon Sierra - 80's
Muddy Fox Courier - 80's
GT Palomar 90's
GT Zaskar LE - 90's

Hi the bike is an GF Procalibre which is pritty light. I did think the top disc were the better option but all i can see now are flowers, ha ha.
I will have a look at the kevlar pads on the superstar website but the reason i asked about the pads as i am 18st (i feel sorry for them too) and my brakes struggle some times on the down hills. Thats why i wanted some pads with a good bite to help out.
Many thanks Gaz0 -
the windcutter style, purely because they look awsome but be careful about cutting a fingertip off when adjusting the caliper.0
