Superstar Rotor-pad misalignment

Just been giving the singlespeed the once over, found out the brake pads aren't sitting close enough to the hub, so there's a ridge forming just outside the circumference. It's not a huge amount- I didn't spot it when I put it together, but eventually they're going to meet and I'm not going to be able to stop!

Anyway, it's superstar wave rotors, shimano m595 callipers, superstar type 1&2 adaptors (http://superstar.tibolts.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=57&products_id=359 and an exotic carbon fork. The frame I know is fine, I've used it with a completely different set up in the past with no problems.

As far as I can tell, the rotor OD appears to be ~2mm under the 160mm diam specified, which would chime with the wear on the pads. I'm going to fire off an email to superstar in a mo.

So my question, does anyone else have these rotors (or any of the other components) and had a similar problem? Or any other suggestions on what could be causing it? If nothing else this'll do for an fyi! Cheers!

I had the same issue but the otherway round... The rotor was marginally to big, so the waves on the disc were rubbing on the spring clip above the brake pads, I used a tiny washer to space the Caliper up a bit between the Caliper and the adaptor, which worked fine. But obviously yours can't be solved by doing this. Sounds like your adaptor is slightly out maybe?

Just to add I've had similar issues with cheaper adaptors making the Caliper mis aligned, especially those from ebay...It's usually worth the bit extra for a shimano/hope/avid etc adaptor as these are perfect.

Hmmm, looks like a sunday afternoon job to have the shimano adaptors off another bike and compare. Or get the file out!

Actually, adaptors are cheap, probably just buy the proper kit!

I must say though I've had plenty of superstar adaptors and this is the only one I've had issues with! Their customer service is good to so drop them an email, they will probably replace it.

Sometimes brakes and dis...roto... stopping circles just don't get on, it could just be that. I've seen pads worn with a wee overhang on various brakes though- my mate's Hopes, the Formulas I just bought off the classifieds... The old Tokico kit on my motorbike
