Resetting the hoods after a crash

Had a coming together with a car this morning and the right hand hood was bent inwards 45 degrees. Managed to reset that to its normal position ok, but noticed that it has also been pushed backwards, so the brake lever is facing upwards more than it used to.

How do I adjust the 'vertical axis' so to speak?

You've not mentioned what brakes your running, if Shimano STIs then there is a 5mm allen bolt that loosen/tightens the clamp onto the bars which is accessed from the outside of the shifter. There is a small indentation where the cover meets the main body, pull the hood back and push a 5mm allen key down there and jiggle about till it engages.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

I peeled back the cover to loosen things so I could realign things horizontally but it doesn't seem to allow me to move the hood up/down. I wondered if it was a different bolt for vertical to horizontal.

The shifter is held on with a band. If it is pointing skyward, that means it has moved upwards on the handlebar, so just loosen the clamp screw and push the shifter down again.

Managed to get it righted in the end. Thanks for the tips :)
