hi ive just bought a stumpy expert and its fitted with fox talas 32 rl forks can i adjust the damping or put more air pressure in them as they seem to dive and eat up the travel really quickly (140mm) any advice is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Do your forks have compression adjust? If so increase the amount of compression damping this should sort it out.

Other wise running higher pressures in the fork will make it less responsive. what level of sag are you running?

If no compression adjust you could send the forks off to Mojo who can fit a different shim in the damper to have more compression damping? Or even get them to upgrade the cartridge to have compression adjust but this gets expensive.

What kind of diving are you talking about?
(I don't think RL forks have low speed compression adjustment, but here's a run down of what it does, just to help explain)

Brake dive is when the forks compress under braking as your weight shifts forward. This can be resisted by increasing the amount of low-speed compression damping. However, that will also take away some suppleness from the fork's action.
Low speed compression can also help to reduce the bobbing when pedalling hard.

However, if you're talking about the forks sinking too low when you just sit on it, then all you need to do to fix it is to stiffen the spring. On air forks, this can be done by adding air pressure. On coil forks you do this by adding spring preload - or if more extreme adjustments are needed by putting in a stiffer spring.

Ideally the sinking (sag) should be set so that when you're on the bike in your normal riding position, you're compressing the forks about at 20-30% into the fork's total travel.

Since they are RL they will not have compression adjust

Try adding a bit more air, the sweet spot can be higher or lower than you think so have a play about, I played about for a little bit and found the sweet spot to be much lower than recommended (I have about 90 psi in the fork when about 105 is recommended) but this varies for different riding styles etc.

Ah, ignore that. Just put whatever pressure that gives you between 20-30% sag.
