I'm being haunted by the puncture fairy.

Puncture last Friday after 5 miles, turned around and worked from home.

Fridays puncture haunted me on Monday, 3 on the way in, figured my Gatorskin was on the way out after 3000 miles.

Purchased Armadillo roubaix 'bullet proof' elite.

Wednesday, slow puncture, managed to get home (17 miles) it was that slow.

Thursday, fresh tube added, sharp stone inflicted another puncture.

Am I just unlucky or am I picking the wrong tyres!!

Do I have to do a silly dance and throw salt over my shoulder?

She got me for the first time in 6 months a few days ago. Hopefully she'll get fed up soon along with the Millbank Wall of Wind who seems to back.

Buy a bottle of stans sealant and stick some in your tube.

Adds some weight but massively increases puncture resistance.

Think I'll stick a Durano Plus on the back and move the armadillo to the front, most my visits come on the rear tyre!

If that fails, its slime time..

I had a fortnight like that at the end of last year after pretty much no punctures all year, I really thought something had gone badly wrong.

Nothing since though, so I am hoping that we are all well again :-)

Not sure I'd recommend slime. Firstly I think it only really works on low pressure MTB tyres, the tubes are very heavy and if you do get a p******* they are impossible to fix.

Id do the same if it wasn't spanking new

Was flat this morning, had to get the effing train, thats half the cost of a new Schwable tyres on its own! Stripping the wheel down at the weekend to cover all possibilities!

Buy the Duranos. Pound for pound, probably the best bit of kit on my commuter.

Hitting a stone and getting a flat is "fairy nuff" (pun intended)

Finding it flat in the the morning is either a missed sharp in the tyre carcass, a rim tape problem or a pinch flat gained when inserting the new tube. The rim tape could have moved while you were doing the change. A pinch flat when doing the change is unfortunately your own fault. It's so easy to do this if you have to use tyre levers to get the tyre on

This time of year punctures are more likely due to all the rain. Rain washes sharps into the road and then lubricates them to aid punctures

Thanks, going to take the wheel apart and look for nasties & probably place durano plus on the rear.

Hit a great sodding pot hole hidden by a puddle last night.

I hope the 4 new tubes I bought arrive today.
  • It's been a bad week for me too, with 3 punctures so far (2 on one ride). The roads are trashed after all the ice and snow, and there's loads of grit and flint that's shredding the tyres.

Still, despite this, and the relentless rain, I'm loving being on the bike instead of in the car.

Let's hope that given how busy the puncture fairy's been recently, maybe we'll all be spared further visits for the next few months...

Errrr ....... there is no such thing as a Puncture Fiary or any other similar euphemism.

    You need to:
    1) Keep your tyres properly inflated ideally at a pressure just below their max rated pressure
    2) Get some decent tyres
    3) Look where you are riding.
Life is like a roll of toilet paper; long and useful, but always ends at the wrong moment. Anon.
Think how stupid the average person is.......
half of them are even more stupid than you first thought.
  • Thanks for enlightening us with your insight Dilemna!

Yes thanks, because running a brand new 'puncture' proof tyres at the recommended PSI and avoiding pot holes is not doing all of the above

    Yeah, you're DOOMED.

Even if you are doing 2 miles a day on dry roads with Marathon Plus, there is no escape
