Hi

Just looking at Ribble bikes at the moment and in particular the Gran Fondo. Trying to decide on sizes and according to their sizing I'm dead on an XL frame (56cm). However I hear that their frames might come up a bit big?

Has anyone had any experience of this or have their own Ribble and can advise?

Many thanks

I'm 6'2" with 33.5" inseam and ride a 56cm XL Gran Fondo with a 110mm handlebar stem. I think the bike's great by the way.

Here is a pic for reference, saddle 1cm too high in this pic & I've lowered the stem too:

Same height, longer legs - my Gran Fondo is a 54 large. All depends, see :D

  • Thanks for the replies, yeah hear good things about the bike so really looking forward to it!

Am 6'1" but long legged at 35" inner, which using their calculations means I'm dead on an XL, bit fingers crossed I've got the right size!!

Sounds like Large to me tbh. Avanti Roman has a much longer torso than you or I -therefore he needs a longer top tube. You can't adjust the top tube for torso length but you can adjust the seat post for leg length.

Edit - tried to look at the Ribble sizing help but it doesn't open properly in my browser (an obscure one called Internet Explorer!) - however, it appears to be focused on inside leg measurement only. If it ignores torso, then it will assume normal proportions; and think you are 6 ft 9 tall! Potentially you'll end up stretched out. At least the GF has the shortest geometry of the range so it won't be as bad but I expect that the L would be a better fit. I had a professional fitting when I bought my other bike - the Ribble is almost identical in size to that other bike which I chose because it gave the best fit.
