Hi everyone, im hoping someone can help, I have got a specialized FSR XC comp 2009 and the forks are pants! so i'm thinking of upgrading them to Rockshox revelation RLT, i know that the steerer size is 1-1/8 but im not completely sure if this is tapered or not as i havent removed the standard Tora's.
Does anyone know the answer and has anyone done the same upgrade and has it improved the bike drastically?
Many thanks James.

Standard non tapered steerer. Would be a better fork.0

Do you get a 120mm Revelation (other than u-turn)? Frame's only warrantied for 120mm max.
I put 120mm Reba Teams on my 2009 Comp and it transformed the bike, as did the Fox Float on the rear0 -
Hi, Like you said they have the U turn function, it will give me slightly more travel on the front and slacken the head angle slightly which i think will be better for the fast descents. (i find the bike quite unstable and twitchy going downhill)
the Reba's were going to be my choice originally but i decided to go for the option extra travel.
The fox float rear shock will be my next purchase, did you get one off the peg or did you have to get one from specialized?
Thanks for the response.0 -
An off the peg Float from CRC but TF Tuned reduced the stroke for me for £20 as off the top of my head it was 190mm x 50mm but I needed 190m x 45mm. The shock was only £100 in the sale.0

A tapered fork (1 1/8" to 1.5") will not work. You will need to go with a standard 1 1/8" steerer. Don't go over 132mm of travel or it will void the warranty. A 120mm travel fork will work best.0 -
I got the same bike and have run either 07 Revs or 09 reba's. Both work much better than std Tora's and i err have both of them for sale. Can do you good deal as i have both sat here still.....and the FSR too.4 wheels bad
2 wheels good
1 wheel for fun0
