I'm seriously considering buying a Kona Jake. It'll be used for touring, (including a planned Lejog next year) and daily commuting. The commute is fairly straightforward, but our touring can involve rougher roads/tracks and ferries.

Any advice welcome.

Wouldn't a Kona Sutra be more suitable as it is a touring bike with racks for panniers and disc brakes? The Jake is a cyclo cross bike, fine if that's what you want to do with it otherwise you are just falling for the marketing hype. The Sutra would be far better for LeJog and touring as well as commuting.

Thanks dilemna. The Sutra looks fantastic, has great reviews, but is just outside my price range, although I'm still considering it.
