Timing chip for Alpe d'Huez

With the timing chips for climbing Alpe d'Huez, are these picked up in the Tourism office in the centre of Bourg d'Oisans (I was there in 2008 so know the whereabouts) and is there a timeframe you have to use them in would anyone know?
